Excel Academic League - Watercolor 101
Learn the fundamentals of color theory and watercolor technique! Gain the skills needed for more advanced classes, such as color theory basics and the main washes for watercolor application. We will learn to transfer an image proportionally to paper without tracing and add in color in both a realistic and whimsical fashion. Complete unique works of art, each building on the skills of previous projects. We will get to play with different types of watercolor, pencil, ink, and masking.
Ages:
13 and up
Objectives:
Color Theory basics
Watercolor application techniques (wet on wet, wet on dry, etc.) and how to know which technique to use
Proportional image transferring without tracing
Use of negative space
Consistency with light source
Format:
Each class will begin with a small lesson and example. The bulk of the class will be students creating their own art works with any assistance that they need to learn or comprehend. Free paint time should assignments be completed. Proper clean-up technique.
Bring:
"Paints, brushes, paper, pencils, pens, and masking supplies will be provided.
Art can be messy, please dress appropriately."
